Vegetables, Herbs and Botanicals

Sweet Potato

All Claude & Clarence dry food recipes are grain free. Instead, we use Sweet Potato, which is a complex carbohydrate high in B Vitamins. Sweet Potatoes bring many benefits to your pet’s diet as they are also rich in Vitamin C and contain several essential minerals. As part of your pet’s balanced diet, they ensure sustained, slow energy release throughout the day.

Cellulose is a rich source of dietary fibre found in the cell walls of all plants. It is almost entirely indigestible for dogs which is actually a very good thing! In its undigested form it provides a wide range of benefits including reducing constipation.

Peas

Peas are a great source of health-promoting antioxidants as well as a wide spectrum of beneficial nutrients including Vitamins C, K and B1, Manganese and fibre. Peas also contain high protein levels which helps to increase essential amino acids in our foods.

Linseed

Linseed contains high levels of dietary fibre, natural antioxidants and nutrients. Its primary benefit is its high proportion of health-boosting Omega 3 fatty acids.

Orange

Orange is well known for being rich in Vitamin C, an antioxidant which can help support the immune system.

Marjoram

Marjoram has a high mineral and antioxidant content and is also a natural anti-inflammatory.

Basil

Basil is a natural anti-inflammatory and contains a high level of antioxidants. Basil also helps prevent cell damage, can calm an anxious pet and can ease arthritis pain.

Sage

Sage has anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties as well as having the ability to provide relief from acidity and aid in digestion.

Thyme

Thyme contains many active properties that are found to have disease-preventing and health-promoting benefits.

Potato

Using Potatoes instead of grains in our foods enables the inclusion of essential vitamins such as Vitamin C and Vitamin B6. Potatoes are also a great source of potassium.

Chickpeas are rich in essential amino acids. They provide a source of protein, dietary fibre and certain dietary minerals such as Iron and Phosphorus.

Asparagus

Asparagus is rich in Vitamins A, C and K plus Folic Acid which all help contribute to general health and wellbeing.

Cranberry

Cranberry is a great source of Vitamin C, E and K and dietary fibre. Cranberries have also been widely recognised as helping to prevent urinary tract infections.

Supplements

Omega 3

Made from Fish Oil, our Omega 3 supplement comes from oily fish like tuna, sardines, salmon and mackerel. In addition to the wide range of health benefits that fish oils bring to the diet, they are also a great source of energy. Fish oil is also rich in several vitamins including Vitamins A, B3 and D.

L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine is an amino acid that is naturally produced by animal cells and has a central role in the metabolism of fats. By adding L-Carnitine to our weight loss and senior foods it assists with the breakdown of body fat while maintaining lean muscle mass.

Brewer's Yeast

A great natural source of B Vitamins, Brewer’s Yeast has a wide range of functions: aiding digestion, supporting the nervous system and keeping the skin, hair, eyes, mouth, and liver healthy to name a few. Brewer’s Yeast is also a good source of protein as it contains all the essential amino acids required by dogs.

Chondroitin

Chondroitin Sulphate is a naturally occurring chemical and is well known for easing the symptoms of joint conditions. It also acts as a natural anti-inflammatory.

MSM

Methyl-Sulphonyl-Methane (MSM) is a natural anti-inflammatory recommended for the treatment and prevention of osteoarthritis and other joint problems.

Stock

In our dry foods our Stock or natural flavouring is an essential ingredient in the recipe. Our natural stocks enhance flavour and palatability.

Omega 6

Working in conjunction with Omega 3, Omega 6 oils have long been used for the prevention and treatment of many of health conditions like problems with joints, skin conditions and cardiovascular disease.

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid (one of the building blocks of proteins) that can be found naturally in all sorts of foods and especially in seafood and meat. Cats do not synthesise sufficient levels of Taurine naturally, so it’s essential that they receive enough in their diet to maintain healthy eyes and regulate cardiovascular function.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is a natural aid for joint problems and is one of the most common non-vitamin, non-mineral dietary supplements for both humans and dogs

Pre-Biotic MOS (Mannan-Oligosaccharides)

Pre-Biotic FOS (Fructo-Oligosaccharides)

Fructo-Oligo-Saccharide (FOS) is another nutritional supplement with pre-biotic benefits. It encourages the growth of friendly bacteria in the large intestine which promotes overall gastro-intestinal (GI) health.
